    Biggest Disappointments:

Secondhand Serenade's Hear Me Now was pretty much the biggest joke this year. After an AWESOME debut, their follow-up album was a failure of epic proportions. Which made me mad because I was really looking forward to it.

I avoided swine flu. I mean, H1N1! Excuse me for being politically incorrect. Come on, you can't blame me for being disappointed. Being quarantined is something everyone should experience.
    Obama wasn't assasinated.

Still waiting for a zombie appocalypse.

Lonestar was cancelled and Smallville is still on the air in its 10th season.

The Suns lost the Western Conference Finals to the Lakers. Douchebags!

Jake Gyllenhaal made the worst mistake of his life by dating Taylor Swift and not me.

    I am still unemployed.

    More Summer Obsessions...

    #5. Covert Affairs

So I really wasn't expecting much from this new show on USA Network because I've had my doubts about Piper Perabo (i mean the girl was in that chiuaha movie! that's what i call DESPERATE) but USA Network did it again and has created ANOTHER awesome show! The pilot was amazing! I'm really excited to see where this show goes. Some of the characters are quickly becoming my favorite characters on television and the storyline is great! It comes on after Psych on Wednesday nights and you can get the pilot episode for free on itunes! I highly recommend this show and I've come to realize that ANY USA Network show is bound to be good. ie) Psych, White Collar, Covert Affairs. JUST WATCH IT! You won't regret it. Piper Perabo has FINALLY turned her career around and done something good for once!

    #6. British Singers

    -Florence + The Machine:
Their music was featured on the preview for Eat, Love, Pray...the pilot episode of Covert Affairs...NBC's Community...and several tv comercials! "Kiss with a Fist" "Cosmic Love" and "Dog Days Are Over" are just some of my favorites. I've been blasting "Dog Days Are Over" ALL SUMMER!

    -Kate Nash:

"Merry Happy" is SUCH a good song! I first heard it on an episode of Community and I thought it was Regina Spektor, but when I looked it up I realized it was Kate Nash. The lyrics are so powerful. Now, I've never dealt with a break-up but when I do...I'm blasting this song!

    someday my prince will come...

This is one of THOSE days.

The days when I just want to be living a different life. Maybe it's because this summer is dragging on like no other...maybe I'm just being a silly teenager...maybe it's because i've been babysitting a lot this summer, but there are some days when I just want my life to BEGIN! Can I skip high school? Can I skip college? Can I just skip to the part where i meet my knight in shining armor and we gallop off into the sunset and make tons of cute babies? Even if I could just skip to my first date with the man of my dreams! Then I'd be satisfied. Sometimes I scare myself and think that if that did happen, I would end up as a 40 year old woman in front of a computer screen on eharmony.com!

I know that marriage should be "at the right time with the right person" but i just wish i could send a HUGE S.O.S to my future husband and tell him to hurry up and serve a mission or finish serving his mission and come to my rescue! And if it ends up I'm the girl that gets married right after high school...SO BE IT! It would honestly make my life decisions so much easier. "WHOOHOOO! Screw you college! I'm getting hitched!" Do they have a major for mommyhood, perhaps? Maybe THAT'S it! Maybe this whole new desire to get married is really just my idea of trying to avoid the scary decisions I'm going to be making after high school. Who knows...ask me tomorrow and I'll probably say I want to grow up and be the President of the United States and not get married til I'm 30.

So You Think You Can...BAWL YOUR EYES OUT!!

I don't know what it is about So You Think You Can Dance, but so far this season I've cried 3 times while watching it. The first time was when Alex and Allison danced to "Hallelujah", the second time was when they announced that Alex needed surgery and wouldn't be returning (so sad), and the third time was last night when Robert (my fav) and Allison danced a Travis Wall number to "Fix You" by Coldplay. COLDPLAY MAKES ME CRY ENOUGH AS IT IS! Travis dedicated the dance number to his mom who just had surgery. The story was so beautiful. Robert represented Travis and Allison represented his mom. I so wish I could dance! I think it's the most beautiful form of expression EVER! I admire dancers so much, especially the ones that create meaningful and emotional routines. Travis Wall is such an amazing coreographer!

I think this season of SYTYCD is slowly becoming my favorite...I don't think it could ever outdo season 3, but it's pretty close! I love that they've brought back past contestants (particularly NEIL! YUMMY. YUMMY. My all time favorite contestant! can i just marry him now?). I really want to go to the SYTYCD Tour...I hear Neil has signed up! *squeel* Anyway...
here are the dances that made me cry like a baby:

and here are some of my favorite SYTYCD numbers:

I cried when I watched this one for the first time too...

    I LOVE Neil!!

and THIS is by far the funniest dance routine EVER!

Things I've Fallen In Love with This Summer

    #1. White Collar

Usually I'm not into the whole serious crime tv shows like CSI and Law and Order, so when Gina recommended that I watch White Collar I wasn't too interested but I did anyway because she and I generally share the same taste in shows. After I watched the first episode, I was HOOKED! This show is surprisingly funny and I'm literally on the edge of my seat every episode! It doesn't hurt that the lead character is basically the sexiest man ALIVE! Gina and I started watching this show just in time because the second season starts July 13th, so I've had until then to catch up on the first season and its AMAZING! If you've seen the movie "Catch Me If You Can" with Tom Hanks and Leonardo DeCaprio, this show follows a similar storyline. If you're bored this summer and want a new show to watch, check out White Collar! You WON'T be disappointed.

#2. Their Eyes Were Watching God

"One of the most important works of twentieth-century American literature, Zora Neale Hurston's beloved 1937 classic, Their Eyes Were Watching God, is an enduring Southern love story sparkling with wit, beauty, and heartfelt wisdom. Told in the captivating voice of a woman who refuses to live in sorrow, bitterness, fear, or foolish romantic dreams, it is the story of fair-skinned, fiercely independent Janie Crawford, and her evolving selfhood through three marriages and a life marked by poverty, trials, and purpose. A true literary wonder, Hurston's masterwork remains as relevant and affecting today as when it was first published -- perhaps the most widely read and highly regarded novel in the entire canon of African American literature. "

I chose this book to read for my AP English summer assignment and it was pretty good. I cried. It was on Oprah's Book Club list and she helped produce it into a movie starring Halle Berry. I watched the movie and it wasn't anywhere near as good as the book, but the movie still made me cry too. If you want a good book to read this summer, check out Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston.

    #3. Toy Story 3

I've been waiting FOREVER for the third installment to come out and let me tell you...it didn't disappoint AT ALL. In a cheesy way, I felt like it helped me finally close the chapter on my childhood. Which is depressing! Growing up, Toy Story was the one VHS tape that was always in the VCR! I loved that movie as a kid. Now?? I'm almost 18 years old!! That's crazy!! I loved this movie and it will forever hold a place in my heart.

    #4. FIFA World Championship Soccer

Never in my life would I thought I could've gotten into soccer. Never say never i guess. All you really have to do to get me hooked to a sport is throw in some very attractive athletes!! haha. Soccer defnintely has some sexy-exy players so it didn't take me long to fall in love with the sport. You know how when you were little you would go to your siblings soccer practices and DREAD it because all you were watching was a bunch of kids kick a ball back and forth and hopefully one team would get just as bored playing as you were watching and proceed to sit down and start picking the grass, leaving the other team with a perfect opportunity to score....yeah, professional soccer isn't all that different. haha. They're all just so good that it's almost IMPOSSIBLE to score, so sometimes it takes a full hour for some action to happen! Which is totally worth it because by that point all the sexy-exy soccer players are even SEXIER and sweaty! :) This year the team i wanted to win "ESPANA!!!" won the World Championship for the first time! My fantasy boyfriend Iker Cassillas (the captian and goalee of the team) had one of the most adorable post game interviews with his reporter girlfriend! I'll post the video and leave a translation...it's funny that even though i feel like i learned NOTHING from the 4 years i took spanish, i understood this entire interview!

    MIDNIGHT SHOWING OF ECLIPSE!!

    Thursday, June 24, 2010

"when did i become such an...ACTIVIST?!"

I've always been annoyed by so-called "tree huggers" but lately...I've become one of THEM! I'm normally not like this AT ALL! I pride myself on being a member of the "i'm lazy. who gives a crap?" club, but lately I've actually been paying attention to the news around the world and in particular the oil spill on the Gulf Coast. IT'S RIDICULOUS! I'm honestly not too concerned about the animals, but I've taken Biology and I know that there's a thing called a water cycle and all that oil is gonna start falling from the sky pretty soon and that's just N.A.S.T.Y! Here's a video I found on youtube of "oil rain" already happening in Louisiana.

Usually, I wouldn't pay too much attention to something like this. I think Global Warming is a load of crap and I honestly don't care where the food on my plate came from...stuff like that doesn't bother me. This BP Oil Spill, DOES! Now, there are a lot of politics involved with the business being corrupt and the government yada yada yada...so far it seems like all anyone was done is look for who to blame rather than how to fix it! Come on now...we went to the moon, we can sure as heck fix an oil leak!

The rain issue isn't the only thing that bothers me. People are losing their jobs and fishermen are moving their families to Brazil because they can no longer fish. Not only that, but the locals are permitted from cleaning the Gulf and only authorized BP workers are allowed to clean up. EXCELLENT! Letting the murderer inspect the crime scene sounds like a brilliant solution! I have no clue why I'm so riled up about this. I guess it shows how boring my summer is going...I'm turning into an activist for cryin out loud! Ugh. "Activist." I swore I'd never become that word. Anyway, i promise this will be the first and LAST post I make concerning the subject. I despised people who went on rants about how to save the world and many of them really don't know what they're talking about. I will admit...I'm not an expert when it comes to this issue, BUT I'm not stupid! It should not be this difficult to clog up a hole....just stick Obama in it. haha. Jk. Did I really just mention the President in my blog post? GAH! I abhor politics! What is happening to me?! Til next time!
    Sincerely,
I don't even know who this is anymore...

    Disney Dopeness

    "Toy Noize"

    "Upular"

    My Newest Obsession...Period Dramas

I know its summertime when I can spend 10 straight hours watching a BBC Period Drama! I'M OBSESSED WITH THEM!! However...mini-series?? That's a HUGE understatement. I watched 14 epsidoes!! That's more than a season of Friday Night Lights!! haha...ok, maybe I should explain a bit more.

I don't even remember how I stumbled upon it, but on Saturday Night I found this tv special on youtube called "Lost in Austen." It's about Amanda Price who because of the lack of romance in her life, turns to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. She reads it so much that the character Elizabeth Bennet comes to life and switches places with her. While stuck in the book, she watches everything go wrong! Jane marries Mr. Collins, Charlotte moves to Africa, and Caroline is...GAY?! What? Yeah...it was weird, but i loved it! It reminded me of Kate and Leopold. I LOVE THAT MOVIE!! My only complaint...Elizabeth and Darcy don't end up together in the end. Amanda steals him from her!! I mean, sure everyone falls in love with Mr. Darcy when they read the book, but he still belongs with Elizabeth!! They're one of Austen's most CLASSIC couples!! I think Jane Austen rolled around in her grave a few times during this movie. It was still entertaining though. :) 4 stars!!

And lastly...LITTLE DORRIT!!! I'd never heard of it before, but it's a novel by Charles Dickens that I have now decided to read for my AP English summer assignment. The miniseries was so AMAZING!! I cried. I just can't even describe how incredible this series was!! I watched it all day Sunday!! Since 10 hours of something is almost impossible to sum up quickly, I'll just post the preview. If you ever are bored or get the chance...WATCH LITTLE DORRIT!!

The Period Dramas I Can't Wait to Watch this Summer:
    *War and Peace
    *Wives and Daughters
    *Anna Karenina
    *Mansfield Park
    *Jane Eyre
    *Becoming Jane
    *Emma
    *Persuasion
    *Sense and Sensibility
    *and so many more...
WHICH MEANS, LOOK OUT FOR MORE REVIEWS FROM ME!! These series' are literally saving my summer from total boredom!! :)

    OH. MY. LANTA.

I watched "The Ringer" for the first time this week and it has quickly become my favorite comedy!! Why didn't anybody tell me about this amazing movie?!?! I'm surprised that it took me 5 years to watch this movie...it is HILARIOUS! I laugh everytime i watch it, which let me tell you has been A BAGILLION times in the last week!! I haven't stopped quoting it...just thinking about this movie makes me laugh!! If you're like me and you still haven't seen this movie? Watch it NOW!! I have the BIGGEST crush on Johnny Knoxville now, but the sad thing is that he's old enough to be my dad!! Yikes.
